- ポート教授の"Mistral wasn't built in a day"（ミストラルは一日にしてならず）は有名な"Rome wasn't built in a day"（ローマは一日にしてならず）をRWBY世界に当てはめた言葉と思われる。
- ウーブレック教授の"the Goliath in the room?"とは、"The elephant in the room"（見て見ぬふりをする）を同じくRWBY世界のグリム、ゴライアスに当てはめた言葉と思われる。
- クロウとレイヴンの会話シーンで流れる曲は元々"Corvi et Geminos"（ラテン語で"Ravens and Twins"という意味）というタイトルだったが、後に"Which "we" are You Referring To?"というタイトルになった。作曲者のAlex Abrahamは以前SoundCloudにこの曲をアップロードしていた。
- タイヤンがヤンのことを"sunny little dragon"と呼ぶのは彼女の名前を中国語で解釈したものである。
- ヒガンバナの宿の看板は「日本人には読めないフォント」と言われる日本語のカタカナをもとに作った「Electroharmonix」というフォントで日本語話者が見ると一見日本語のように見え混乱する。
